Understanding the cause of your BV

As stated in the previous posts, Bacterial Vaginosis is cause by overgrowth of bacteria, specifically anaerobic bacteria, the condition of the skin in the vaginal area or affected area and low immunity.

As such, vitamin deficiency, specifically Vitamin B, is one of the major factors in having BV. This is because vitamin deficiency lowers the immune system of the body. This is also the reason why women with diabetes are more prone to the condition.

Similarly, the use some birth control devices affects the skin condition of the vagina and other areas. This is why many of these devices are known to lead to BV. Older women are also highly susceptible because their skins are the perfect environment for the bacteria. They also have weak immune system so it makes it even easier for the bacteria to grow.

It is important to note here that atrophic vaginosis is not the same as BV. Atrophic vaginosis is also common among older women because their vaginal linings are already thin and lack lubrication.  If you think you are suffering from athropic vaginosis, it is important to see a doctor immediately because its treatment is different from BV.

Knowing all these factors can help you understand why you have BV. And your understanding is your first step toward the right treatment.
